Christina Sakali

I am an interdisciplinary postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in International Political Economy. My research explores the variegated manifestations of contemporary capitalist processes across regional, national and local contexts. In the past, I have collaborated in research projects with the Transnational Institute TNI, FIAN International, and the network RIPESS. I have also been collaborating with initiatives to advance affordable housing and tenant protection in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Project

My research for the Property and Democratic Citizenship project explores the impact of property relations, institutions, and markets on the experiences of democratic citizenship and patterns of housing precarity, especially within the Greek context. It particularly focuses on the intertwinement of global property and financial markets, debt relations as well as the role of law and institutions in the financialisation of housing.
